About Pisa, Italy

More Pisa Photos
Located in the Tuscany region in the north of Italy, Pisa is best-know as the home of the world-renowned Leaning Tower. That’s not the only string on the bow of this great city though, as it also boasts a number of other great attractions along with a great selection of bars and restaurants.

The city is bisected by the Arno River and can be divided into four main historical quarters: Santa Maria, San Francesco, San Martino and Sant’Antonio. Each quarter has its own unique feel and set of highlights.

Of course, no visit to Pisa is complete without a trip to the Piazza del Duomo, where you’ll find the Tower. This popular square is also home to Pisa’s Cathedral and the Battistero. Other piazzas across the city provide visitors with the opportunity to hang out amongst the locals while taking a break on a shaded bench, among other great features.

This city has a population of 90,000, and thanks to the University of Pisa, many of the city’s denizens are students. The youthful age of many of the city’s inhabitants gives it a lively atmosphere, complimented by a wide variety of bars and restaurants suiting all tastes and budgets.
